Issam Moussa, MD, MBA has a comprehensive education history. Issam attended Damascus University from 1981 to 1987, where they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine. After completing their medical degree, they pursued further training and education. From 1989 to 1990, they completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University. Issam then went on to complete a Residency in Internal Medicine at UC Irvine from 1990 to 1992. Following this, they pursued Fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine at UC Irvine from 1993 to 1995 and at the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute from 1995 to 1996. Issam then obtained a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute from 1996 to 1997.

In addition to their medical training, Dr. Moussa also pursued business education. In 2016, they attended the Rutgers Business School for a Mini MBA in BioPharma Innovation. Issam then pursued an Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Health Care Administration/Management at the University of Colorado Denver from 2015 to 2017. Lastly, in 2023, they completed a Certificate Program in Artificial Intelligence in Health Care at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
