Erik Korem, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of sports science and high-performance coaching. Erik is currently the Founder and CEO of AIM7 Inc., a company they established in September 2020.
Before founding AIM7, Erik held senior leadership roles at various institutions. From 2018 to 2020, they served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director at William & Mary, where they oversaw the health, wellness, and performance of over 500 student-athletes. This included providing direction and oversight for athletics performance, sports medicine, performance psychology, sports science, and sports nutrition.
In 2016, Erik joined the Houston Texans as the Director of Sports Science, where they were responsible for developing and executing a global selection, development, and performance model. Erik implemented a sports science program aimed at providing actionable intelligence for key decision-makers to optimize performance and mitigate injury risks.
Prior to their role with the Texans, Erik was the High Performance Coach at the University of Kentucky from 2012 to 2016. Erik directed the first High Performance program in Power 5 Football and played a vital role in the team's most successful 6-year span in program history.
Erik is also known for their work at Florida State University, where they served as the Director of Sports Science and Football Operations from 2011 to 2012. During their tenure, they introduced athlete tracking technology to collegiate American football and led collaborative initiatives that significantly reduced soft tissue injuries.
Before their time at Florida State, Erik held various coaching positions at Mississippi State University, University of the Pacific, and Fort Valley State University, where they gained valuable experience in strength and conditioning.
In addition to their extensive work experience, Erik Korem has been recognized for their leadership and expertise. Erik was selected as a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2019, participating in a prestigious program in partnership with the Presidential Centers of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson.
Erik Korem, PhD, has a strong educational background in the field of exercise science. Erik began their academic journey at Texas A&M University, where they pursued a degree in Kinesiology. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Arkansas to complete a Master's degree in both Exercise Science and Kinesiology and Exercise Science.
In 2014, Erik Korem joined the University of Kentucky, where they dedicated himself to furthering their expertise in exercise science. Erik successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Exercise Science in 2018, demonstrating their commitment to advanced research and academic achievement in this field.
