Lead Systems Engineer at Airborne Technology

Marcos Paz Duart has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Marcos is currently working as the Lead Systems Engineer at Airborne since October 2022. Prior to that, Marcos worked at Ampyx Power from 2015 to 2022, where they held the positions of Lead Engineer - Mechanical / Mechatronic Systems and Project Engineer - Mechatronics. Marcos was responsible for the end-to-end development of the Launch & Land Apparatus for the PowerPlane system, focusing on fully autonomous operation, safety, and predictable performance. Marcos also worked as a Research and Development Engineer at Boskalis from 2014 to 2015. In 2012, they worked at Incostas S.A. as a Project Engineer, where they were involved in the development and improvement of oceanographic equipment and offshore field work. Additionally, Marcos worked as a CAD Design Engineer at ABGAM in 2012, and as a Team Leader for the Human Powered Submarine project at Universidad Simón Bolívar from 2008 to 2011. Marcos also had an internship at SEAT, SA in 2010.

Marcos Paz Duart completed their education in mechanical engineering at Universidad Simón Bolívar from 2005 to 2011, earning an Engineer's degree. Marcos then pursued further studies in engineering, specializing in mechatronics, at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 2011 to 2013, obtaining an Msc. in Mechatronics. In addition to their academic achievements, they have obtained several certifications, including OMI 1.13, 1.19, 1.20, and 1.21 from the International Maritime Organization in February 2013, the Open Water Diver SSI certification from Scuba Schools International in December 2008, Autodesk Inventor Professional certification from Autodesk in January 2008, and BOSIET + HUET + EBS certification from OPITO in August 2014.
