Justin Mazur

Justin Mazur has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Justin started their career in 2004 as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University Bloomington, where they taught mathematics courses and developed strong communication and leadership skills. In 2006, they became a private mathematics tutor and later served as a VIGRE JumpStart Instructor.

In 2010, Justin worked as a Lecturer at New York Medical College, teaching bio-statistics and improving their computer skills through the development of online course content. Justin also served as a Visiting Scholar at Rice University during this time.

From 2011 to 2013, Justin worked at ROSEN as a Physicist and Data Analyst. In these roles, they developed algorithms and implemented data optimization techniques to improve pipeline inspection and analysis. Justin demonstrated initiative by identifying and solving inefficiencies, leading to a promotion to research and development.

Justin then moved on to Chartbeat, where they held multiple positions from 2013 to 2016. As a Data Scientist, they worked on software engineering and product development, utilizing technologies such as Python, Clojure, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch. Justin later became the Lead Data Scientist for Advertising Products, building innovative advertising technology. As the Lead Data Scientist, Research, they led a team in building a real-time data pipeline and developing tools to surface trending topics and stories across the internet.

Most recently, Justin has been working as the Head of Data Science at Aircore since 2016. In this role, they manage a small team and collaborates with the executive team to develop and deliver key success metrics for data-driven decision making at the fast-growing start-up.

Justin Mazur holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, which they obtained from 2003 to 2009. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2005, they pursued a Master's degree in Mathematics from the same institution. Justin's academic journey began at Purdue University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from 1999 to 2003.
