Matthew McCready has a diverse range of work experiences. Matthew started their career as an Architectural Intern at Joe Hyland Architect in 2009. Matthew then worked as a Server at The Painted Horse from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, they became a LEGO Engineer/Instructor at Play-Well TEKnologies. From 2012 to 2013, Matthew pursued a master's degree at Full Sail University. Matthew then worked as a User Experience Researcher at Full Sail University User Experience Lab, where they conducted usability testing and analyzed data. In 2013, they joined Edge of Reality as a QA Analyst, where they performed testing and reported bugs for the game Loadout. Matthew's next role was at Certain Affinity, where they worked as a QA Analyst, Production Assistant, Associate Producer, and eventually a Producer. During this time, they worked on various projects and gained experience in project management, team coordination, and quality assurance. In 2019, they joined Rooster Teeth as a Senior Producer for games. Matthew later joined IllFonic, where they worked as a Senior Producer, Lead Producer, and Director of Production, overseeing the development of multiple projects. Most recently, Matthew joined Airship Syndicate as the Lead Producer in 2023.

Matthew McCready completed their Bachelor of Science in Architecture in the field of Architectural Studies from Arizona State University, which they attended from 2006 to 2010. Matthew then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Game Design with a specialization in Game Production Management at Full Sail University from 2012 to 2013.
