George A. Zumba has extensive work experience in various roles related to talent sourcing, development, training, and administrative duties. George A. is currently the Head of Talent Sourcing & Development at Airtel Tanzania since November 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the Manager of Training and Development at TIB Development Bank Ltd from August 2016 to November 2020. Before that, they served as the Section Leader - Human Capital Development at Acacia Mining Plc from November 2013 to August 2016. George also worked as an Organisation Development Co-ordinator at Barrick Gold Corporation from February 2009 to November 2013. Earlier in their career, they held administrative roles at the Government of Tanzania's Department of Refugee Services, serving as a Senior Administrative Officer from June 2006 to February 2009, and as an Administrative Officer from February 2002 to February 2006.
George A. Zumba obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science & Public Administration from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) between 1997 and 2000. George A. then pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Improvement (Management by Practice) from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town, completing it in 2013.
In 2015, George enrolled in the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Human Resources Management. George A. successfully completed this program in 2017.
In addition to their formal education, George has also obtained several certifications. In 2011, they received a certification in Training and Workplace Assessment from Training Services Australia. In 2017, they earned the Balanced Scorecard Professional certification from the Balanced Scorecard Institute. In 2019, George obtained the KPI Professional certification from PMI Africa. George A. most recently obtained the certification in The Six Morning Habits of High Performers from LinkedIn in May 2023.
