Kimberly Garko

Kimberly Garko, PhD joined Akebia in May of 2020 as the Vice President of Quality. Prior to joining Akebia, Ms. Garko served as the Director of Global Quality Systems at Sage, a Division of Stryker from 2018-2020. Other key roles held by Ms. Garko include the Vice President of Quality, Dohmen Life Science Services and the Site Head of Quality, Biogen. Additionally, Ms. Garko has served as an Executive Quality Consultant supporting pharmaceutical firms in various capacities with a specialization in Warning Letter Remediation. Ms. Garko’s range of technical and Quality experience includes biologics, oral solid dose, gene therapy, and medical devices. She holds a Ph.D. in Virology from Louisiana State University, and a master’s degree in microbiology and B.S. in biology from the University of South Florida. Ms. Garko conducted her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
