Simon Grunfeld

Simon Grunfeld has been involved in capital markets since 2006, when he first registered with the National Futures Association as a Commodity Trading Advisor but started his career in the technology field years before. Since 2010, he has focused on the blockchain space, building and launching digital asset products for institutional and retail markets.

Simon brings years of experience in a multitude of leadership positions in Fintech, blockchain, and capital markets, and has managed distributed teams across many business units, in the US, Panama, Argentina, Cyprus, Israel, India, Pakistan, China, and the Philippines, building and launching platforms and services.

Simon’s first start in capital markets was as the founder and product owner of Gallant FX and Gallant VPS: Foreign Exchange focused platforms, servicing the FX needs of retail and institutional clients. The Gallant VPS was a PaaS that was developed in-house to service algo traders globally. Gallant FX was primarily an execution platform, allowing investors to speculate within the FX market. The FX market in the US came to a close in 2010, when the Dodd-Frank bill was introduced and put into effect, causing Simon to leave the industry.

When blockchain became an apparent disruption within the financial markets, Simon’s focus was to cater to the market by creating a white-label platform, allowing any enterprise to set up their crypto exchange. And so Ibinex was launched in 2014. After that Simon launched 9 exchanges globally.

After leaving Ibinex, Simon took a role as SVP of Operations at Apifiny, a digital asset platform based in NY. In that role, Simon led new initiatives, built out the US and APAC offerings, while planning for new ways to bring digital asset products to market. Digital payments, Defi, and tokenization of limited-edition collectibles were a few of these initiatives.

Simon has acted as a senior consultant for blockchain, media, and other companies, looking to leverage this new form of technology in their products and operations.
