Karthik Murali, PhD has worked in a variety of roles since 2009. Karthik began their career as a Research Engineer at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in 2009. Karthik then moved to the University of Southern California in 2010, where they worked as a Research Engineer and HTE Fellow. In 2013, they co-founded StemSurgical and in 2015 became the Director of D-HEALTH: University of Southern California's Digital Health Lab. In 2016, they took on the role of Head of Public Health at Akido Labs, and in 2019 became the Director of Future Communities Institute.

Karthik Murali, PhD obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Northwestern University. Karthik then completed a Certificate program in Financial Economics at the Kellogg School of Management. Karthik went on to obtain a Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Southern California, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the same university.
