Ali Hashem

Ali Hashem is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in media spanning over two decades. Currently serving as Program Editor and Correspondent at Al Jazeera English since March 2020, Ali has been responsible for producing in-house news and field reporting. Prior roles include serving as a columnist for Al-Monitor, focusing on Middle Eastern political crises, and working for the BBC as a bilingual correspondent covering Iranian affairs. Ali also founded and led the digital arm of Al Mayadeen media network, contributing to its growth and editorial direction. Previous experience includes positions at Assafir Newspaper and Al Jazeera Channel, alongside various roles at the BBC. Ali holds a Master of Research in Politics and International Relations from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a BA in Communication Arts from the American University of Science and Technology.
