Chenelle Smith serves as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Trials Division at the Alabama Office of the Attorney General since August 2021. Previously, Chenelle gained valuable experience as a Certified Legal Intern at the University of Alabama School of Law Criminal Defense Clinic, where representation of indigent defendants and drafting legal petitions occurred. Additional roles include teaching assistance with the LSAC PLUS Program, a remote internship at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, legal staff duties in the Domestic Violence Clinic, judicial externship for the Honorable John H. England Jr., and a summer law clerk position with the United States Attorneys' Offices. Chenelle began a professional journey at Target as a Sales Team Leader and held a managerial position at Which Wich Superior Sandwiches. Chenelle holds a Juris Doctor with a Public Interest Certificate from The University of Alabama School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Alabama.
