Sumedh Sankhe

Sumedh Sankhe has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 2011, they worked as an intern at Wärtsilä, where they gained experience in propeller repair and welding techniques. From 2012 to 2014, they served as a Marine Engineer at d’Amico Shipping Group, responsible for fuel and oil consumption reports as well as waste oil incinerator operations.

In 2017, Sumedh worked as a Data Analyst at Affect Mental Health, where they developed systems and conducted research for the 1000 Journey's Project. This included designing an email response system and extracting data from social media platforms.

Starting in 2018, they joined EnerNOC as a Systems and Analytics Co-op, where they collaborated with cross-functional teams to support the Demand Response Programs. Their responsibilities included developing reporting tools, automating tasks, and creating R-Shiny dashboards.

From 2019 to 2020, Sumedh worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Khoury College of Computer Sciences. Sumedh subsequently transitioned into the role of Research Software Engineer, working on projects related to bioinformatics.

Between 2020 and 2022, Sumedh was employed at Genentech, initially as a Senior Scientific Researcher and later as a Principal Scientific Researcher in the field of bioinformatics.

Their most recent role, as of 2023, is as an R Shiny Software Engineer at Alamar Biosciences, Inc.

Throughout their career, Sumedh has demonstrated proficiency in software development, data analysis, and research in both academic and industry settings.

Sumedh Sankhe completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Marine Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in the years 2008 to 2012. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, which they completed from 2015 to 2016. Subsequently, Sumedh pursued another Master's Degree, this time in Data Science, from Khoury College of Computer Sciences, from 2017 to 2020.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Sumedh has obtained various certifications to enhance their skills. Some of the certifications they obtained include the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, which they received from LinkedIn in 2020. Sumedh also obtained certifications in Creating Interactive Presentations with Shiny and R (LinkedIn, 2018), Learning Excel Data-Analysis (LinkedIn, 2016), Supply Chain Foundations (LinkedIn, 2016), Introduction to R Programming (edX, 2015), and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (KPMG India, 2014).
