Mahdi Hajian

Mahdi Hajian is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in power systems and energy resilience. Currently serving as a Principal Engineer at the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), Mahdi leads restoration and resiliency initiatives, maintaining power system restoration plans while coordinating with various stakeholders. Previous positions include Senior Technical Leader at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), where Mahdi focused on system restoration and the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs). Mahdi also held multiple roles at AESO addressing energy storage and ancillary services, and led a team at AltaLink analyzing disturbances in power systems. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Power Engineering from the University of Calgary and an M.Sc. in Power Systems from Sharif University of Technology.
