Stephen VanderZande

Stephen VanderZande currently serves as the Manager of Project Engineering at AESO since November 2015, leading the project engineering team for connections to the Alberta grid. Prior roles at AESO include Lead Engineer/Engineer Specialist focusing on Transmission Engineering & Standards in Protection and Telecommunications, and Senior Engineer in Protection and Telecommunications. Before joining AESO, Stephen was a Senior Network Engineer at AltaLink from May 2007 to November 2015, providing operational engineering support for network systems and leading the evolution of the legacy TDM network to MPLS. Stephen also held a position as P&C Engineer, EIT, conducting detailed investigations of protection applications. Earlier experience includes a Summer Engineering Student role at SaskPower and a Summer Student Lineman position at Hydro One. Stephen earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, completing the degree from 2002 to 2007.
