Nelson Edward Soto

Nelson Edward Soto, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience. Nelson Edward is currently serving as the President of Albizu University since 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs at Union Institute & University from 2013 to 2022. In this role, they provided strategic leadership, secured external funding, and managed various aspects of the institution.

Before joining Union Institute & University, Dr. Soto worked at Harrison College as the Associate Provost & Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction from 2010 to 2013. Nelson Edward was responsible for budget management, implementing academic programs, and negotiating contract relationships with external partners.

In addition, they served at IUPUI as the Assistant Dean, Graduate School from 2005 to 2010, where they focused on recruitment and retention plans for underrepresented students. Nelson Edward also managed grants and programs, developed academic workshops, and assessed student achievement.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Soto worked as a Research Associate at Indiana University Bloomington, where they assisted in developing professional development programs and policy recommendations for Shelbyville Community Schools.

Nelson Edward Soto, Ph.D. pursued a higher education journey in various institutions. From 1995 to 1999, they attended the University of Cincinnati, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Business Administration, Management, and Operations. Nelson Edward then continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Foundations from 1999 to 2000. Subsequently, from 2002 to 2010, they enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington, where they successfully achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Educational Policy.

In addition to their formal education, Nelson Edward Soto also obtained a certification in Urban Education from the University of Cincinnati, although the specific month of attainment is unknown.
