Vai Patel

Vai joined the firm in February 2023 and serves as the Head of ESG for Alcentra. Vai sits on Alcentra’s ESG Committee and his role covers working with the investment teams on responsible investing; ESG integration; ESG risk analysis supporting the Alcentra credit research teams & portfolio managers; designing & executing Alcentra’s ESG strategy; and working closely with the Alcentra product & investor relations teams, including on ESG reporting and fundraising.

Before joining Alcentra, Vai helped establish the ESG Financing & Advisory team at Lloyds’ Corporate & Institutional Banking business. He led on several high-profile ESG transactions marking several sector-firsts, was involved in ESG product development, integration of ESG into the origination & credit sanctioning processes, and helped author frameworks for the Group in partnership with treasury & investor relations.

Prior to this, Vai spent nearly a decade working in securitisation, leverage finance and syndicated loans front-line origination teams at Lloyds’ Capital Markets.

Vai has a Masters in Engineering from Imperial College London, and the Cambridge Institute Of Sustainability Leadership accreditation from the University Of Cambridge.
