Steve Alcorn began their professional career in 1977 as an Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company. Steve then moved to Walt Disney Imagineering in 1982, where they worked as a Consultant and Systems Engineer. In 1984, they took on the role of Chief Operating Officer at Linn Electronics, Inc., Tarzana, California. In 1986, they became the CEO of Alcorn McBride Inc., where they were responsible for the design, development, and corporate operations of the leader in audio, video, show and lighting control products for themed entertainment. In 2000, they founded the Writing Academy, where they authored courses and served as an online instructor, teaching students how to become published authors.

Steve Alcorn attended the University of California, Los Angeles from 1973 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Engineering.
