Aidan Rooney is a Materials Characterisation Engineer at Aledia, focusing on characterising novel LED structures and developing analysis techniques since February 2021. Prior experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at CEA-LETI from January 2019 to January 2021, where Aidan worked on developing novel characterisation methods for nano-scale semiconductor systems and collaborated with CNRS on high-resolution electron microscopy to characterise electric fields in nanowires. Aidan's research at Aalto University School of Science and Technology involved studying structural phase transitions in two-dimensional semiconducting materials using high-resolution aberration corrected TEM during a postdoctoral position in early 2018. Earlier experience includes a student internship at SINTEF, where Aidan set up a hydrogen fuel cell testing station and investigated fuel cell durability. Aidan Rooney holds a PhD in Materials Science from The University of Manchester and an MChem (Hons) in Materials Chemistry from the University of St Andrews.
