Rupesh Kumar has a diverse work experience in the field of health, safety, and human factors. Rupesh started their career in 2006 as a Research Assistant at Luleå University of Technology, where they conducted applied research on occupational health and physical working environments. Rupesh later became an Associate Professor, teaching courses on measuring manufacturing productivity and total productive maintenance.
In 2012, Rupesh joined Statoil as a Human Factor Lead and HSE/Technical working environment specialist. Rupesh held this role until 2016, during which they contributed to the development of guidelines for reducing maintenance stops and improving productivity.

Rupesh Kumar obtained a PhD in Industrial Design/Ergonomics from Luleå University of Technology from 2001 to 2006. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science degree in Industrial Ergonomics from the same university from 1999 to 2001. In terms of additional certifications, they completed a course in Byggarbetsmiljösamordnare BAS - P & BAS - U from Teknologisk Institut in 2020 and obtained a certification in Accident Investigation from Statoil in 2013. Rupesh also acquired certifications in Setting Up a PMO from The Project Management Institute in 2011 and ESA- 19 Fackkunnig Repetition from Energiföretagen Sverige in July 2020.
