Dave Smith

Dave Smith's work experience begins in 1991 at Syntex, where they worked as a Research Scientist until 1995. Dave then joined Roche Palo Alto as a Principal Research Scientist and remained there until 2010. In 2010, Dave joined Alios BioPharma as an Associate Director and worked their way up to Senior Director Product Development before leaving in 2015. From 2015 to 2018, they worked at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies as the Vice President and Global Research and Development Leader for Hepatology. Currently, Dave is the Executive Vice President at Aligos Therapeutics, a position they have held since December 2020. Prior to this role, they served as the Vice President and Head of Chemical Operations at Aligos Therapeutics from August 2018 to December 2020. Additionally, Dave worked as a Consulting Associate Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University from 1993 to 2001.

Dave began their academic journey at the University of California, Berkeley, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry, studying from 1981 to 1984. Dave then pursued further education at Yale University, from 1984 to 1989, where they earned both a Master of Science (M.S.) and a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Chemistry. In 1988, they briefly attended Harvard University, working toward a Ph.D. in Chemistry, and completed their studies in 1989.
