Laurien de Gelder

Conservator Archeologische Collecties Van West-azië & De Griekse Wereld at Allard Pierson

Laurien de Gelder is a dedicated professional in the field of archaeology with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as Conservator of Archaeological Collections of West Asia and the Greek World at Allard Pierson since January 2016, Laurien has also contributed as a lecturer in the history of antiquity at Universiteit Utrecht from January 2020 to March 2024. Prior experience includes work as a policy officer for collection registration at Van Eesterenmuseum Amsterdam and as an educational advisor for classical languages at Eisma Media Groep. Additional roles include a traineeship at The Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome and an internship at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, focusing on the documentation of the Pierre Janssen slide collection. Laurien holds a Master’s degree in Mediterranean Archaeology and a Bachelor of Arts in General Cultural Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
