James L. “Jim” Rickman, PSM is a second-generation A/E/C professional with a surveying career that began shortly after high school, at a small engineering and surveying firm in Ocala, Florida. Since these humble beginnings, Jim has grown into the profession and progressed from the field, to the office and ultimately obtaining is Professional Surveying and Mapping (PSM) license in 1996.
Jim was the second employee with Allen & Company and has since moved through different roles to become Director of Land Development Services. Jim’s surveying expertise, exceptional attention to detail and a clear understanding of the land development processes has made him an outstanding asset to the company’s clients. And it is through this dedication that Jim ensures the success of every project, regardless of its complexity or demanding requirements.
In his role as Director of Land Development Services, Jim leads a team of more than 40 surveying professionals, managing hundreds of projects every year with an admirable track record. His understanding of the “art and science” of the surveying profession has granted him the ability to assure accurate and reliable data can be provided to the Project Engineering and Development team. All those years of experience have also allowed Jim to provide helpful on-site knowledge to other consultants and clients engaged in the development process.
Jim’s comprehensive understanding of the design and development process is helping guide the growth of individuals and new service lines within Allen & Company. He is actively mentoring individuals to strengthen the team as a whole, which in turn translates into growth opportunities in a variety of service lines—ensuring their longevity and career relevance as the company evolves.
While many of these service lines are integral in the design and development process, these also offer value-added benefits to other enterprises within the A/E/C industry. And this is where Jim’s attention to detail serves Allen & Company well, by identifying and evaluating new growth opportunities to ensure the company can remain a viable part of the industry’s evolution—and a key partner for its clients’ success.
