Michael Rood

Michael Rood has worked in the scientific field since 2004. Michael began their career as a Chemist at Alpha Micron, Inc., where they ran lab-scale synthesis and purification of dyes to be used in organic electronic devices. In 2007, they became a Graduate Student at Georgia Tech Research Institute, where they studied the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily of proteins and their role in transcriptional regulation. From 2014-2016, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute - Florida campus, where they studied the translational and non-translation functions of the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases and how disruption of these processes leads to cancer and other diseases. In 2016, they began working as a Research Scientist at BlinkBio, Inc. and then in 2019, they became a Senior Scientist, Assay Development at Alphazyme LLC.

Michael Rood obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry from Kent State University between 2002 and 2006. Michael then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2014.
