Matthew Button

Matthew Button has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Matthew began their career as a Second Officer at Canship Ugland in 2010, where they served on an ice-breaking bulk carrier. In 2013, they became a Third Officer/Junior DPO at Canship Ugland, working on a shuttle tanker. Matthew then joined Baffinland Iron Mines Port Site in 2016 as an Assistant Port Captain, overseeing marine services for the export of iron ore. In 2017, Matthew joined Teekay as a Third Officer DPO, before being promoted to Chief Officer/Senior DPO in 2019. Finally, they currently hold the position of Chief Officer/Senior DPO at Altera Infrastructure since 2020. Their roles have involved responsibilities such as supervision, deck department management, and communication with vessels operating within port limits.

Matthew Button attended the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland from 2006 to 2010. During this time, they earned a Diploma of Technology in Nautical Science, with a focus on Nautical Science.
