Furthermore, Austad has an academic background, having been a PhD Candidate at NTNU from August 2007 to July 2011. Haakon Michael worked on developing computationally efficient algorithms for inference on Binary Markov Random Field models with applications in reservoir modeling. During this time, they also taught classes at the department of mathematical sciences.
