John Cowley

John Cowley has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and responsibilities. John started their career in 2005 as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts, where they conducted legal research and drafted legal documents. In 2008, they worked as a Training and Marketing Coordinator at Kindred Healthcare, where they collaborated on web-based sales trainings and created marketing collateral.

From 2010 to 2014, John held multiple positions at Kindred Healthcare, including Senior HIPAA Analyst, Director of Compliance for Home Health and Hospice, and Senior Director of HIPAA and Regulatory Affairs. In these roles, they conducted compliance investigations, executed audits, and led privacy and security risk assessments. John also developed and implemented protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with referral laws and revised contracting processes.

From 2017 to 2019, John served as the Vice President of Compliance at Healogics, Inc. In this role, they oversaw the compliance program and managed the privacy program to ensure compliance with privacy regulations under HIPAA and state laws. John also co-led the company's compliance program, which included education and training, communication, governance, and corrective actions.

Most recently, John Cowley has been working at Amedisys since 2019 as the Vice President and Privacy Officer.

John Cowley received their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 1998 to 2002. Following that, they pursued their Doctor of Law degree at the University of Louisville from 2003 to 2006. In addition to their degrees, they also hold certifications from the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) in both CHC and CHPC.
