Marta Pérez Drake

Marta Pérez Drake has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Marta Pérez is currently working as the Chief Operating Officer at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), a position they have held since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant for AACTE from August 2022 to January 2023.

From 2019 onwards, Marta Pérez Drake has been associated with George Mason University as a Communication Studies ABD and Graduate Teaching/Research Assistant, pursuing a PhD expected to be completed in 2023.

Before joining AACTE and George Mason University, Marta Pérez Drake held various roles at NACUBO (the National Association of College and University Business Officers). Marta Pérez served as the Senior Vice President of Education, Development, and Membership from June 2017 to January 2020. Prior to that, they were the Vice President of Professional Development from June 2010 to May 2017. Marta Pérez also served as the Interim Vice President of Constituent and Member Programs from February 2010 to May 2010, and as the Director of Constituent Programs from November 2004 to January 2010.

Marta Pérez Drake started their career at Georgetown University, where they worked as the Director of Faculty Services from April 2003 to October 2004. Before that, they were the Director of Policy, Programs, and Communication at the Council of Graduate Schools from November 2000 to February 2003.

Their earlier experience includes positions at Georgetown University as the Assistant Director of Student Programs and Director of New Student Orientation from July 1998 to November 2000, and at Duke University as the Assistant Dean of Student Development from July 1993 to June 1997.

Marta Pérez Drake began their education journey at Duke University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Art History from 1988 to 1992. After a few years, they enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing their Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies between 1995 and 1997.

Seeking to enhance their leadership skills, Marta attended Georgetown University in 2016 and 2017, where they obtained an Executive Certificate in Transformational Leadership. Marta Pérez furthered their education at George Mason University, starting in 2019, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Organizational, Strategic, and Intercultural Communications, expected to be completed in 2022.
