Beth Cunningham

Beth Cunningham has a diverse and extensive work experience. Beth began their career as a Graduate Student at Kent State University in 1983 and later worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota. Beth then served as a Staff Physicist at American Liquid Xtal Chemical Corporation before returning to Kent State University as a Graduate Student again. Beth went on to work as an Assistant Professor at Gettysburg College and then joined Bucknell University, where they held various positions including Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor of Physics. Beth also worked at Illinois Wesleyan University as a Professor of Physics and later as the Provost and Dean of Faculty. Most recently, they served as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Physics Teachers starting in 2011. Throughout their career, Beth has demonstrated expertise in physics, teaching, faculty development, and leadership.

Beth Cunningham completed their education in physics with a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree from Kent State University, which they obtained between 1978 and 1982. Beth then pursued further studies at the same institution, earning a Master of Arts (M.A) degree and a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Physics during the period from 1978 to 1987. In terms of additional certifications, Beth obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in March 2022.
