Edward Guinan is a distinguished Professor of Astrophysics and Planetary Science at Villanova University since September 1970. With a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Pennsylvania, earned in 1970, Edward has made significant contributions to various astronomical organizations. Current roles include membership on the AAS Publications Board and advisory positions at the International Space Development Hub and Lifeboat Foundation. Edward chairs the IAU/OAD Task Force for Astronomy Education and Research in Developing Countries and serves on the Publications Committee of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and as a Council Member for the American Association of Variable Star Observers. Previous leadership roles included chairing the US National Committee for Astronomies of the National Academy of Sciences and co-chairing the Teaching Astronomy for Development Program at IAU.
