Kaat Vanderjeugt

Preservation Technician at American Battle Monuments Commission

Kaat Vanderjeugt is an experienced professional currently serving as a Preservation Technician at the American Battle Monuments Commission since November 2014, where responsibilities include supporting the preservation program and ensuring the protection of cultural and historical resources. Kaat is also a member of the Superintendents Leadership Council, representing cemetery associates across ABMC cemeteries. Previous roles include Executive Assistant and Interpretive Guide at Flanders Field American Cemetery, where event planning and visitor services were key responsibilities, and participation in the Understanding Sacrifice Program, a collaboration with National History Day. Additionally, Kaat has worked as a city and museum guide in Ieper, and a museum guide at Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917. Earlier experience includes teaching high school history and social education, along with a stint as a research assistant at the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917. Kaat holds a Bachelor and Master of History from KU Leuven, a Master of Arts in Archives from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, a History Teacher Training degree from KU Leuven, and has specialized training in official guiding.
