Shawn O'Neal

Shawn O'Neal is a seasoned media professional with extensive experience in journalism, media management, and advocacy. Currently serving as the Senior Regional Media Advocacy Manager at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network since May 2023, Shawn O'Neal has a robust background in sports journalism as the Senior Editor for Lindy's Sports Annuals since 1998. Prior roles include Director of the Department of Student Involvement at the University of Idaho for nearly two decades, overseeing campus student engagement and leading various departments, as well as serving as Student Media Manager/Adviser. Shawn O'Neal's previous experience also includes editorial roles at Moscow-Pullman Daily News, CBS SportsLine, and Kitsap Sun, showcasing a strong editorial and teaching background complemented by a Master's degree in Adult, Organizational Learning and Leadership from the University of Idaho and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Washington State University.
