Ian Rachal

Ian Rachal has extensive experience in correctional management and consulting, currently serving as the Deputy Director at the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center since March 2019, where responsibilities include managing the detention center and acting as Executive Director when needed. Rachal also provides correctional consulting services through Lahcari Consulting, specializing in PREA audits and ACA audit preparation, alongside curriculum development and training. As a Senior Auditor for the American Correctional Association, Rachal conducts audits across various correctional facilities, ensuring compliance with Core Jail, ALDF, ACI, and PREA standards. Previous roles include instructing at the American Jail Association and holding multiple leadership positions at Riverside Regional Jail Authority, focusing on housing unit management, community corrections, compliance, and developing training curriculums. Rachal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Corrections from California Coast University.
