Sr. ITSM Administrator at American Equity

Michael Henderson has over 30 years of work experience in various IT roles. Michael started their career in the US Army as a Veteran and served in active duty and the US Army Reserve. Michael then worked as the Director of Customer Service IT at Phoenix Networks and later as the Sr. IT Administrator at CARS Inc. At Bunn-O-Matic Corporation, they were a Sr. Programmer specializing in Lotus Notes and Websphere Portal development and administration. Michael then joined PDS Tech, Inc. as a Websphere Portal App Dev/Inf Architect at State Farm Insurance.

In 2010, Michael joined H D. Smith as a Senior ITSM Architect and Middleware Engineer. Michael was responsible for implementing ITIL principles and ITSM methodologies using BMC RemedyForce. Michael successfully implemented interactive processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Asset, and Configuration management. Michael also led projects involving organizational change and adoption, requirement analysis, and documentation of processes.

After leaving H D. Smith, Michael worked as a Technical Architect at Syntel/WTW where they gained further experience in IT architecture.

Most recently, Michael worked at American Equity as a SR. ITSM Administrator. Michael was involved in the implementation of ITIL principles and ITSM methodologies using JIRA Service Management, Jira Software, Opsgenie, Confluence, Cherwell, and Cherwell CMDB/CAM. Michael successfully implemented interactive processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Asset, and Configuration management.

Michael Henderson has a diverse education history. Michael attended Piedmont International University and Temple Baptist Seminary from 2016 to 2018, where they obtained a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies with an emphasis on Ancient Near Eastern languages. Prior to this, from 1993 to 1996, they pursued Theology at Southwest Baptist University for three years. In 1989, they enrolled in Ozark Christian College for general studies, completing one year of coursework. In their early years, from 1975 to 1979, Michael studied Automotive and Electrical Technology at SEK AVTS. Additionally, they are currently working towards a Masters degree in Ancient Near Eastern and Biblical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Piedmont International University since 2016 and is expected to complete it in 2019.

In addition to their formal education, Michael has obtained various certifications. In 2014, they achieved the ITIL Expert certification and the ITIL Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice. Michael also received the ITIL Intermediate certifications in Planning Protection and Optimization (PPO) in 2013, Service Offerings and Agreements (SOA) in 2013, Release Control and Validation (RCV) in 2012, and Operational Support Analysis (OSA) in 2012, from various institutions. Furthermore, they obtained the ITIL Foundations in Service Management certification from PEOPLECERT in 2012. Michael holds the ITL V4 Managing Professional certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice, obtained in September 2021. Lastly, they received the IBM Certified Solution Developer certification from IBM in 2010. Michael also holds the certifications IBMCAAD IBM Lotus Domino 6-7 Advanced Application Developer and PCLP Lotus Domino from IBM.
