Florence Estes

Florence Estes is an experienced labor educator and union representative with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as a Union Staff Representative for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees since May 2000, Florence previously held the position of Director of Education for the United Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Workers Union from January 1994 to May 2000, overseeing a regional leadership education program. Earlier roles include Visiting Lecturer at Northeastern Illinois University, where Florence taught classes on History and Philosophy of Education and Collective Bargaining for Teachers, and Labor Education Specialist at the University of Kentucky's Center for Labor Education and Research, focusing on adult education for union leadership. Florence holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Kentucky and has advanced degrees in Labor Studies and Sociology and Anthropology.
