Betheny Lyke has an extensive work experience in the field of education and school improvement. Betheny started their career at Thornton Township High Schools in 2002, where they served as a District Office and School Administrator for ten years. In 2012, they joined Matteson Elementary School District as a School Administrator for a year. After that, they worked at the Illinois Center for School Improvement, first as an Associate Director from July 2013 to July 2014, and then as the Executive Director from July 2014 to August 2018. Currently, they are the Director of the District and School Improvement Center at the American Institutes for Research, a position they have held since August 2018.
Betheny Lyke completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics at Hampton University from 1988 to 1992. Betheny then pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree in School Leadership at Northwestern University from 1993 to 1995. Finally, they enrolled in Roosevelt University from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in School Leadership and Organizational Change.
