Lorraine Stiehl

Lorraine Stiehl has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several organizations. Lorraine is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at the American Liver Foundation since January 2021. Prior to this, they worked at The National Institutes of Health from May 2018 until December 2021, where they held the role of Advisory Council, Public Representative at the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive & Kidney Diseases.

Before their role at NIH, Lorraine Stiehl operated their own consultancy firm called StiehlWorks from September 2001 to December 2020. Additionally, Lorraine Stiehl worked at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine from September 2010 to June 2012 as a Patient Advocate Coordinator. Lorraine formulated and executed a comprehensive marketing plan to support their patient advocate efforts for clinical trials recruitment. Lorraine forged valuable partnerships with numerous voluntary health agencies and academic institutions and delivered over 100 speeches at various events and conferences.

Lorraine's career began at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in August 1987. Lorraine worked their way up from Executive Director roles in Los Angeles and Metro Detroit to become the National Field Manager and National Fundraiser. During their tenure, they managed a substantial budget and expanded JDRF's presence by establishing chapters in new markets across multiple states. Lorraine'soutstanding contributions to JDRF earned their several accolades, including the JDRF National Executive Director of the Year in 1989 and the JDRF National Volunteer of the Year in 2010.

Lorraine Stiehl earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Economics from Wayne State University between 1980 and 1983. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the same university from 1987 to 1990, reaching 90% completion.
