Alek Nilsen

Alek Nilsen is a Design Engineer at American Magic, contributing to the 37th America's Cup since February 2023. Nilsen has a robust design background, having worked at Core Builders Composites Limited and SailGP Technologies, where skills in design and composite techniques were honed. Experience also includes a role as a Solid Propulsion and Combustion Lab Research Assistant at California State University, Long Beach, focusing on testing solid rocket propellant. Nilsen's foundation in mechanical skills was established at Surf City Cyclery and Ray's Cycle, combining sales and bike repair expertise with a strong academic background, including a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and an Associate's Degree in Physics from Diablo Valley College.
