Heather Hays has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Heather most recently served as the Vice President of Development at the American Parkinson Disease Association, starting in July 2023. Before this, they held the position of Vice President, Development at RWJBarnabas Health from August 2017 to March 2023. Prior to that, Heather worked as the Executive Director of Autism Speaks for two years from May 2015 to July 2017. Heather also has experience as the Director of Rehabilitation at Genesis HealthCare from October 2012 to May 2015. Heather has a background in the healthcare industry, having served as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Children's Specialized Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in different periods of their career. In addition to their healthcare experience, they have entrepreneurial experience as the CEO & Director of Charley's Organic Toffee from January 2009 to December 2013. Lastly, Heather has also served as the President/Executive Director of The Children's Museum of Central New Jersey from January 2000 to January 2005.
Heather Hays earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Occupational Therapy/Therapist from the University of Minnesota, where they studied from 1985 to 1992. Following that, they pursued a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree in Healthcare Strategy and Leadership from The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health, completing their studies in 2020. Additionally, Heather holds certifications as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) from the American College of Healthcare Executives, which they obtained in June 2020, and as a Registered Occupational Therapist from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, which they obtained in October 1992.
