Daniel Cobaugh has extensive work experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Daniel has held various leadership positions at ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists), including Senior Vice President, Professional Development and Publishing and Editor in Chief of AJHP (American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy). Prior to this, they served as Vice President and Editor in Chief of AJHP.
Before joining ASHP, Cobaugh worked at the ASHP Research and Education Foundation, where they held the position of Vice President and Senior Director for Research and Operations. Daniel also worked at the American Association of Poison Control Centers as an Associate Director.
Earlier in their career, Cobaugh held positions at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where they served as the Director of the Finger Lakes Regional Poison and Drug Information Center and as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. Daniel also served as the Director of Emergency Medicine Research at the university.
Cobaugh started their career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, where they worked as the Coordinator of the Toxicology Treatment Program and as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy & Therapeutics.
Daniel Cobaugh pursued their education in the field of pharmacy. After completing their B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh from 1981 to 1987, they went on to further their studies at Duquesne University. At Duquesne, they obtained their Doctor of Pharmacy degree between the years 1987 and 1989. Following their doctoral studies, Daniel completed a Hospital Pharmacy Residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1988 to 1989, focusing on clinical, hospital, and managed care pharmacy. Daniel then participated in a Clinical Toxicology Fellowship at the Pittsburgh Poison Center/University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy from 1989 to 1990, specializing in clinical toxicology. In addition to their educational achievements, Daniel has obtained certifications such as being a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in August 1987, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Applied Toxicology in September 1992, and being a member of the ASHP Foundation's Emerald Lifetime Giving Society as of June 2023.
