Inoka Tennakoon

Inoka Tennakoon has a diverse work experience in the field of speech-language pathology. Inoka is currently working as an Associate Director of Health Care Services at The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), where they started in August 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Speech Language Pathologist at Johns Hopkins Medicine from February 2022. Inoka also gained experience at Mercy Health Systems/Stella Maris Home Based Care as a Speech Language Pathologist from September 2020 to August 2022. In their earlier career, they worked at various organizations including Lorien Health Services, HCR ManorCare, University of Maryland Medical System, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Kelaniya. Notably, they held positions such as Care Forward Navigator, Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant, and Deputy Director of the Disability Studies Unit. In these roles, they demonstrated skills in conducting assessments, providing remediation services, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance, and coordinating academic programs. Inoka is experienced in working with a diverse population and has a bilingual background.

Inoka Tennakoon began their education in 2000 at the University of Bangalore, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology/Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathology/Pathologist. Inoka completed their undergraduate studies in 2003. Following this, they enrolled in Bowling Green State University in 2003 and obtained a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Pathologist in 2005.
