Paul Essig has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Paul started in 1994 as Air Operations personnel on USS Kearsarge and then moved on to become the Maintenance Officer/OIC at HSL-44 from 1997 to 1999. Paul was later appointed as the NMCC Action Officer at The Joint Staff from 1999 to 2002. Paul served as the Commanding Officer of HSL-44 from 2002 to 2005 and then joined the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) as a Requirements Officer from 2005 to 2007. Paul pursued further education at the National Defense University and graduated in 2008 as a student at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF). Following that, they worked at the Office of Naval Research as the Assistant Chief of Naval Research from 2008 to 2010. Paul then transitioned to the Concurrent Technologies Corporation where they served as the Executive Director of Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing from 2011 to 2015. Subsequently, they took up the position of Director of Business Development and Strategy at L3 Technologies, specifically L3 Brashear, from 2015 to 2019. Currently, Paul works as a Program Manager at American Technology Solutions International Corp. (ATSI), starting in 2019.

Paul Essig received their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Villanova University, where they attended from 1982 to 1986. Later, in 2007, they pursued their Masters of Science degree in National Resource Strategy at the National Defense University, completing their studies in 2008.
