Brajesh Lal has an extensive work experience in the field of vascular surgery and research. Brajesh has held the position of Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine since 2013. Brajesh has also served as the President of the American Venous Forum since 2018. In addition, they have worked as the National Co-Principal Investigator for CREST-2 at NINDS-NIH and as the National Principal Investigator for Carotid Stent Registry C2R at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, both starting in 2014. Prior to these positions, they held leadership roles in various organizations including being the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University of Maryland Department of Surgery and President of the South Asian American Vascular Society. Brajesh has also served as Chairman of the American Venous Registry. Before joining the University of Maryland, they worked as an Associate Professor and Vascular Fellowship Director at Rutgers-NJMS and as an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at Rutgers-NJIT. Overall, they have a diverse and accomplished background in both academic and clinical settings.
Brajesh Lal completed their Residency & Vascular Fellowship at Rutgers University from 1995 to 2002. Prior to that, they pursued a Fogarty Fellowship in Molecular Biology at the National Institutes of Health from 1993 to 1995. Brajesh also attended the All India Institute of Medical Sciences from 1989 to 1992, where they completed their Medical School and Residency. Lal began their education at La Martiniere College from 1977 to 1982, focusing on Biology. Brajesh completed their early education at Frank Anthony Public School from 1972 to 1977.
