Chantal Garcia De Gonzalo has a wealth of experience in the scientific field. Chantal began their career in 2007 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Florida State University, where they synthesized molecular tweezers for electron transfer studies, developed protocols for the crystallization of molecular tweezers, and utilized nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to characterize and assess the purity of all synthesized small molecules. In 2010, they began a Graduate Research Assistant position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they performed experiments involving cell culture, natural product production, isolation, and purification by High Performace Liquid Chromatography, and MALDI-TOF, as well as genomic DNA isolation and purification, and gel electrophoresis. Chantal also experienced with bacterial expression systems for heterologous production of antimicrobial peptide analogues and proteins. Additionally, they served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, lecturing students on general chemistry topics, holding office hours, and grading assignments/exams. In 2015, they began their role as a Scientist III Analytics at Amyris, and has since held Scientist II Analytics and Scientist I Analytics roles.
Chantal Garcia De Gonzalo has an extensive educational background. Chantal attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2010 to 2015, where they received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry. From 2005 to 2010, they attended Florida State University and earned both a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry & Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Italian Language and Literature. In 2009, they also participated in a Study Abroad program at Universita' del Salento (Italy) in Italian Language and Literature. In addition, they have obtained four certifications, including Using Python to Access Web Data from Coursera in April 2017, Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) from Coursera in March 2017, Python Data Structures from Coursera in March 2017, and a Certification in Entrepreneurship and Management (CEM) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in August 2013.
