Associate Scientist II at Amyris

Emily Kim has a diverse work experience. Emily began their career in 2018 as an Undergraduate Researcher at Conboy Lab. Emily then worked as a Residential Counselor for Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies in 2018. In 2019, Emily worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Joint BioEnergy Institute, where they investigated limonene transformation pathways in E. coli to develop a sustainable alternative source for acetone and phenol. Emily also built and transformed plasmids into E. coli to produce carveol dehydrogenase and limonene-6-monooxygenase, and analyzed enzymatic activity of produced polypeptides in vitro with GCMS. Additionally, Emily worked as a Visual Communications Assistant - Vice Chancellor of Undergraduate Education Office at University of California, Berkeley in 2019. In 2021, Emily worked as a Research Associate I at Zymergen, and in 2022 they worked as an Associate Scientist I and Associate Scientist II at Amyris.

Emily Kim attended West Campus High School from 2013 to 2017 and earned their High School Diploma. Emily then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC Berkeley College of Engineering, which they completed in 2021.
