Ms. Susan Herlick joined ANSER in June 2020 as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. She is an experienced corporate legal and business executive with a strong track record of providing effective and practical counsel to executive leadership and the Board of Directors, building on a combination of broad legal expertise, business acumen, strategic thinking, and operational experience.
Prior to joining ANSER, Ms. Herlick served as Vice President, General Counsel and Risk Management, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer for Keolis America, Inc., a $600M international corporation. As chief legal and governance officer for the U.S. and Canadian subsidiary of Keolis SA, a French global leader in operating public transportation systems, Ms. Herlick provided legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs advice and strategy for the company’s North American operations. She oversaw all litigation matters; employment law and benefits administration; and served as lead transactional lawyer on local government procurements, financings, and U.S. and Canadian public-private partnership transactions. Ms. Herlick spearheaded the development and roll-out of ethics and compliance programs, including management of internal investigations and the corporate Ethics Hotline.
Ms. Herlick previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Orbital Sciences Corporation, a publicly traded aerospace and defense government contractor. As general counsel and corporate secretary, Ms. Herlick advised the Board of Directors on all aspects of corporate governance and compliance, and advised the company’s executive management and business units on diverse legal and compliance matters, including corporate and securities law, business transactions, commercial and government contracts, export control, litigation management, employment law, real estate, antitrust issues, and intellectual property rights.
Ms. Herlick began her legal career as an Associate in the Washington, DC, offices of Hogan Lovells, where she counseled companies on general corporate matters and securities law compliance.
Ms. Herlick received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, cum laude, from Carleton College in Minnesota, and her Juris Doctor degree with High Honors, Order of the Coif, from George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, DC.
