Makenna Brown is a Staff Scientist at Anchor QEA since May 2021, specializing in the planning and leading of sample collection of water, sediment, and tissue. Prior to this, Makenna served as a Habitat Restoration Technician at the Laguna Canyon Foundation, managing invasive species and installing native plants. Experience also includes work as a Biotechnician for the National Park Service, where data was collected on species richness across the Santa Monica Mountains, and as a Field Technician at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, studying drought effects in tropical forests. Makenna has also held roles in education, including a Teaching Assistant position at UCLA and an Administrative Intern position with the City of Santa Monica. Additional experience includes leading outdoor adventures as a guide, engaging in sustainability efforts at UCLA, and tutoring students. Makenna holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UCLA, where education was completed in 2019.
