Phil Weyman

Phil Weyman is the current Director of Research at Andes. Phil has also worked as a Scientist at Zymergen, Inc. from July 2017 to October 2021, and as an Assistant Professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute from June 2008 to July 2017. Phil's research has spanned a variety of topics in genetics and biochemistry, including the development of improved methods for genetic manipulation of diatom algae, the refinement of large DNA molecule assembly techniques in yeast, and the optimization of biochemical pathway flux in cyanobacteria. Phil has led teams of researchers in each of these areas and has been instrumental in securing funding for their projects. Phil completed their Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Missouri - St. Louis in October 2005.

Phil Weyman has a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from University of California, Davis and a B.A. in Biology from Williams College.

They are on a team with Tania Timmermann - CTO & Co-Founder, Tony Feitz - Regional Manager, and Sharon Nademanee - Director of Research. Their manager is Gonzalo Fuenzalida, CEO & Co-Founder.
