As a former professional violinist and chamber musician, David Lamse presented over sixty concerts throughout New England while a member of the Point CounterPoint Chamber Players, and he has appeared in recital at Middlebury College, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Strings on the Bay Music Festival, Eastern Michigan University, and Klavierhaus in New York City. Over the past three decades, David has performed with most orchestras in Michigan including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, where he was a member for 23 seasons. With a wealth of diverse experience across all musical genres, David has played twenty-six Broadway National Tour engagements and recorded for the Cerberus, Blonde Vinyl, Naxos (American Classics), and Motown record labels. He has also been featured live on-stage with an extensive list of popular artists including Mannheim Steamroller, Smokey Robinson, Sarah McLachlan, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Liza Minnelli.
David was the Personnel Manager of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra for eight seasons and also served as the director of the Jackson Community Music School from 2015-18. While CMS director, he helped grow total enrollment to over 300 students while creating outreach and enrichment programs for many local organizations including the Jackson district library, public school system, and YMCA. In addition, David taught on the music faculty of Point CounterPoint music camp for twelve summers where he was named founding music director of the camp’s Adult Chamber Workshop.
When he’s not busy hiring the musicians for all A²SO concerts, David enjoys mountain biking, motorcycling, exploring the great outdoors with his dog, and rooting for the Detroit Tigers. Recently retired from a lengthy career in orchestral performance, he is thrilled to now join the A²SO administrative staff and remain a part of this amazing organization.
