Kenny Billiau has held various roles in the IT and software engineering fields since 2006. Kenny began their career as a Web Developer at VIB-UGent in 2006, and then moved on to become a Lecturer at Ghent University in 2008. In 2010, they became a Scientific Programmer at the Max-Planck-institute for Molecular Plant Physiology Potsdam-Golm. From 2014 to 2020, they held various roles at the Karolinska Institutet, including Bioinformatician, Bioinformatics Manager, and Head of IT for Clinical Genomics at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). Their responsibilities included long-term planning, development, deployment, maintenance, and operations of software, data flow between Illumina NovaSeq, HiSeq X, and HiSeq 2500 machines, hardware acquisition, data management, workflow automation, tool creation, Genologics Clarity LIMS programming, data delivery automation, IT security, management of the IT infrastructure, and customer communication. In 2020, they began working as a Software Engineer at Anocca AB.
Kenny Billiau obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer Science from HOGENT between 2004 and 2006.
