Chris Badenhorst has a strong background in protein engineering and research. Chris is currently the Head of Protein Engineering at Ansa Biotechnologies, Inc. since November 2022. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2022, they worked at Universität Greifswald as an Alexander von Humboldt Stipendiat and then as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Before that, they were a PhD student at North-West University from 2010 to 2014, focusing on biochemistry and the detoxification of benzoic acid through glycine conjugation.
Chris Badenhorst received a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in 2005 to 2007. Following this, from 2008 to 2009, Chris pursued an Honours Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons) in Biochemistry at the North-West University / Noordwes-Universiteit. Finally, from 2009 to 2010, Chris completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the same university. In 2015, Chris also obtained the Goethe-Institut Zertifikat B1 certification from the Goethe-Institut Berlin.
